Chris Howard started university teaching in 2000 working as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computing, School of Digital, Technologies and Art, Staffordshire University. He is involved with both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, MSc course management postgraduate research supervisor (Masters by Research (MRes) and PhD supervision). He has an industrial background previously working in process control, commissioning, troubleshooting and R&D and is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) with the IET (Institute of Engineering and Technology) as well as also being a member of the ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management). He is also a qualified Cisco instructor on CCNA, CCNA Security, CCNA Wireless, CCNA Cyber Operations and CCNP courses. He currently holds the position of Course Director: Cyber Security, managing the undergraduate and postgraduate Cyber Security, Networking and MOD courses. He teaches predominantly advanced networking topics, cyber security and professional skills modules. In addition, he has attended numerous international conferences and worked as a panel member for other universities in a number of countries.
Interest Areas: networks, network security, cyber security, educational policy and transitional theory, organisational structures and frameworks, hardware systems.
Panagiotis Galiotos is currently working as a Security Engineer for EMPIST, concentrating on the areas of Cybersecurity, Firewalls and IDSs. He completed his undergraduate studies at the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and his M.Sc. Studies at the Electrical Engineering department of the University of Southern California (USC), where he was given a scholarship. He is currently a Ph.D. Student at the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Patras. He has worked for Intracom SA and for the Information Science Institute (ISI) at the Marina Del Ray, in California. He has also worked as a technical consultant for several IT projects for the Greek Ministry of Interior and as a VoIP Engineer for Viva Telecom. Furthermore he has participated in a number of Research Project funded by the European Union, by the Greek Ministry of Development and by the National Science Foundation of the United States (NSF). His research interests include the behavioral based Intrusion Detection Systems and the cross-layer schemes for multimedia transmission over wireless networks. He has several international conference publications. He was a Teaching Assistant at USC. He is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE) and of the Honor Society for Engineers HKN.
Qualified Electrical Engineer by the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and DEA of the Paris 6 University. He worked for ALCATEL and SAGEM as telecommunications R&D engineer. With his return in Greece he has been involved in the design and support of nationwide information systems. At the same time, he is an active instructor, with specialization in Data Networking and Telecommunications. He is a Cisco Certified Academy Instructor. He is being involved in the design of IT training programmes and in the production of study material.
Dr. Dimitrios Patsos
Dr. Dimitrios Patsos has 20 years of experience in risk management and information security, having managed multiple large-scale projects in more than 30 EMEA countries. He holds a Ph.D. in Information Security from the University of Piraeus, an M.Sc. from Royal Holloway University of London, a B.Sc. from the Athens University of Economics and Business, and multiple professional certifications (such as the CISSP, CISM, CDPSE, CCSK, and others). His research interest lies in the areas of incident response, topological vulnerability analysis, digital forensics as well as formal policies and grammars for information security, and he has published multiple articles for international research journals (Elsevier, Emerald, etc.) and conference proceedings (IEEE, PCI, etc.), receiving awards of excellence for his contribution in the research field. He is currently the Director of IT Governance, Risk and Compliance Unit at Syntax IT Group, while he has also served as the CTO Cyber Security at ADACOM S.A., as the Information Security Manager at Space Hellas, and as a Researcher at the University of Piraeus. He is the President of the (ISC)2 Hellenic Chapter, supporting information security professionals throughout their careers, and he is a member of the (ISC)2, ISACA, the Cloud Security Alliance, the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Homo Digitalis.
Dr. Ioannis A. Pikrammenos
Ioannis A. Pikrammenos, Dr. Eng., MBA, has graduated Electrical Engineering and Computer Technology Dept. at Patras University, Greece, and has acquired his Doctoral degree as well as MBA from National Technical University of Athens, Greece. He has extensive participation in 25 EU and 5 national research projects in the area of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). His research activities have resulted in 12 contributions to books and technical documents, 14 scientific publications, as well as 11 participations into scientific events. He has participated in 15 national decision bodies and in 5 initiatives as evaluator of proposals for funding from national and European bodies. He has extensive experience in academic teaching, professional training, and distance learning, with more than 10.000 teaching hours in EQF 5,6 and 7 levels.
Nikos Pissanidis is an IT specialist with over 15 years of professional experience in designing and building large-scale information systems with expertise in J2EE and SOA technologies.During his career he has been involved, from various positions, in a number of ICT projects and Cyber security positions. Proficient in the field of S.O.C. managing, Web penetration testing, ISO 27001:2013 Internal Auditing, Network and Software Security Consulting and Cyber Defense Evaluator in NATO. He had the privilege for three years 2014-17 to serve as the first Greek Army Officer in NATO Cooperative Cyber Defense Centre of Excellence (NATO CCD COE), Tallinn (Estonia) at the Technical Branch. He is active ambassador in Security BSides Athens conference leveraging his experience as Technical Track Manager (2014-2017) in International Conference on Cyber Conflict, CyCon, hosted by the NATO Cooperative Cyber Defense Centre of Excellence.
Sotirios P. Chronopoulos
Sotirios P. Chronopoulos is Deputy IT Manager at Duty Free Shops with headquarters in Athens International Airport. He is a Senior Lecturer with 10 years of experience in the areas of procedural and object-oriented programming (C, C++, C#, Java). He holds MBA from the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), MBA in Networks from the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA) and BSc in Applied Informatics from AUEB. He has developed techno-economic telecommunication models, programming applications and business projects in the scientific and professional sector.
